Five former and current corrections employees will testify before a legislative committee investigating the state prison system, but what they say cannot be used against them in the state patrol's criminal investigation.
Four of the five were present as a district judge granted the motion, Friday afternoon.
The legislative committee subpoenaed eight past and present employees to testify.
These five said they'd be exercising their right to remain silent.
But in order to do a thorough investigation, the committee filed a motion, compelling testimony.
Senator Steve Lathrop, who heads the committee says, "They'll all testify and I think they want to.They just don't want to have the information that they give to the committee be used as admission in a criminal proceeding."
Those testifying do include the four recent punished, by the department of corrections for their actions.
The legislative committee's hearing is next Thursday.
