Construction is about to start near NW 48th.

The plan is to open up the roads leading into airpark and keep traffic moving in the congested area.

The project from W. Vine Street, which is just north of the interstate to W. Adams Street begins March 30th. This will cover over a mile in a half of road.

City officials say the north bound lanes should be done by next winter, the south bound lanes by next summer.

Nearby resident Judy Spahn said, "You hear a lot of the south getting developed and the east and I think its time for the west to finally get developed and I'd like it to still be a smaller area you know kind of like a hometown feel but I think actually it'll be good for us to get some more businesses."

The City Project Manager, Erika Nunes, says the amount of traffic on these roads is too much now.

Nunes said, "The street itself was deteriorating the traffic volumes warrant more lanes more turn lanes."
