It's Homecoming week at UNL's campus. Some students kicked off the celebrations in a unique way.
This morning, students came to the Student Union to donate blood. The annual event was put on by the University's Red Cross Club.
The blood drive gave students an opportunity to help out local blood banks that have been running low for months. The drive is also part of an on-campus competition.
"People who are a part of organizations and Greek houses get points for donating blood for homecoming week, which then we have winners at the end of the week. So, get points and save three lives," says Stephanie Shell, a junior at UNL.
The blood drive will be going on each day this week. Hundreds of students are expected to donate.
