One Lincoln 4th grader and her school had quite a day!

Lincoln Fire and Rescue held a fire prevention poster contest and 2,500 kids entered, Emily Nieman of Kloefkorn Elementary had the award winning creation.

In her poster, called "Learn Not to Burn,” she shows how to stop, drop and roll. It's been a day she won't soon forget.

“I rode a firetruck to school and used headphones to talk to each other.. 2 of the firemen were in the front and in the back was me and my sister,” Emily Nieman, a 4th grader, said.

Fire Chief Mike Despain stopped by to give Emily her award.

“Kids at this age are sponges.. Best bang for your buck for fire prevention and public education,” he said.

Emily's poster will be put up in the county/city building for a couple of weeks. A picture of it will also be put on the Lincoln Fire Department's website.
