Friday was the final day of National Pharmacy Week. Southeast Community College used the week to recognize students in their pharmacy technician program.
SCC's pharmacy tech program is a one year course and is the only accredited program of it's kind in Nebraska.
"I've spent a lot of time at SCC getting my pre-recs done for pharmacy school. I've been told by some of the pharmacists I've shadowed to get a leg up on pharmacy school," says student, Josh James.
SCC's pharmacy tech students have a 100-percent pass rate for the National Certification Exam.
Program chair, Elina Pierce, says National Pharmacy Week is important, because pharmacy techs rarely receive recognition for their hard work.
"The schooling part isn't required in Nebraska, so the fact that the students are seeing the need to take the program says a lot about them. That they want to be prepared for the job they're doing," says Pierce.
Students and staff kicked off the week with a pizza party.
