"Oh wow, there's more now," this, from Aziz Yadellayed, as he ducked into the basement of the burned-out home near Portia and Hartley streets. "See? The first time it burned right where the stairs are."

Yadellayed is fed up. He bought this property in Lincoln to remodel and rent out, but it's since been hit twice by arson. Around 1 a.m. Tuesday, the house caught fire for the second time. Neighbors saw flames and smoke billowing out.

"We don't know what's going on; why people are wanting to mess with that house," said neighbor Richelle Brewer. "It worries me that that house caught on fire twice. And it could eventually spread this way."

The fire inspector told us there are no utilities going to the house, and the fire was clearly started by an outside source.

"They just came out here," Yadellayed said, "Got in the basement, broke the doors, and made the fire."

After the first fire, November 14th, the house was a total loss. Aziz was planning to demolish it and get the area cleaned out.

"That's what our plans were, but not that quick, you know," he said. "Two weeks later, and there's a second fire...I mean that's insane. Somebody's insane doing that."

It happened within sight of Belmont Baptist Church, which was set on fire twice in October. All this arson has people in the area worried.

"I'm confused and everybody else probably around here is confused," Yadellayed said.

He says he's still going to tear the house down, but he's not leaving the neighborhood. He plans to rebuild.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded to a vacant house fire overnight.

Crews arrived to a home, that was deliberately set on fire early this month, around 1 a.m. near Portia and Hartley Streets.

Police say based on Fire Inspector Wright's findings, they are investigating the blaze as a possible arson.

We'll bring you more details when they are made available.
