Dog training company hosts educational seminar

Many people own pets, but not many owners know what to do if there's an emergency.

"We never really expect or anticipate our pet having the need for emergency services," said Doctor Bryan Welty.

The owners of Smarty Dog Training know accidents happen, which is why they invited a professional to teach dog owners what to do if there is an emergency.

The educational seminar was hosted by Dr. Bryan Welty, who was 25 years of experience.

When it comes to performing CPR, if the animal has no heartbeat, press down on the heart 80 to 120 times per minute.

If a pet is injured Dr. Welty advises bandaging the wound before bringing them to the vet.

"What would happen if I'm walking my dog and then all of a sudden it gets off of the leash and gets hit by a car. We never think about that. So it is kind of neat to provide this service to provide that information to people," said Dr. Welty.

One of the dog owners in attendance says this seminar gives her piece of mind.

"I am so glad we came, honestly I am. Everything was really simple. You can do it for dogs or any animal actually that got hurt," said local dog owner Juliet Andersen.

Smarty dog training will be holding monthly seminars for pet owners.
