Thousands of Catholics filled downtown Lincoln on Sunday night to pray.

They came from around the state to line the perimeter of UNL's campus to pray for peace.

It is being called the Husker Catholic Candle-Lit Rosary Crusade.

"We're praying for all the students at UNL and the people in the state of Nebraska and the diocese of Lincoln. Our culture is very course today and we want to try to bring some love and joy," said Jerry Vreka, St. Peters' parish representative.

All parishes around the area were invited to the prayer service.

They surrounded a 2.5 mile perimeter outside of the downtown campus.
