LINCOLN, Neb. - Maurice Washington is turning heads during fall camp.

The true freshman running back is being called a athletic "freak" by his teammates, and is square in the middle of the running back position battle.

"Phenomenal talent, to put it too you that way," Tristan Gebbia, a freshman quarterback, said. "He's definitely got a lot of shake and bake too him. He's going to be a great tool this year."

Even offensive coordinator Troy Walters couldn't ignore the freshman's potential in Scott Frost's offense.

"He's special," Walters said. "When he's out there, he has another gear. He has some instincts that you just don't coach. The guy's have it or they don't and he has it. Great kid. Spending time, extra, out on the field. Learning. So I'm excited for what he's going to do."
