LINCOLN, Neb. - Shane Zimmerman enters his first season at Lincoln Northeast this year as the school's head football coach.

Zimmerman has been a college coach for the past 19 years, but he says the Northeast job was too good of an opportunity to pass up. Zimmerman has a number of family members that live in eastern Nebraska.

He's ready to bring the Rockets back to relevance, he says.

"We're always trying to find ways to be better to get kids to excel," Zimmerman said. "That's what we're trying to do here. I think they're taking too that for the most part. We have our ups and downs, but I think they're trying to do what we're asking them to do. I think that's a step in the right direction."

The Rockets open the season against Fremont on August 24th.
