Roadside assistance worker from York killed in I-80 accident
A York man is dead after being run over by a semi-truck on I-80 near the Seward exit.
Officials with the Seward County Sheriff's Office say the accident happened Wednesday afternoon.
Officials say a semi-truck had pulled over to the shoulder because of a mechanical issue.
The driver requested roadside assistance and two assistance workers from TA Petro of York arrived to fix the problem.
After fixing the issue, one of the workers, identified as Jeremy Covert, 41, of York, went back under the truck.
The driver didn't know the worker had gotten back under the vehicle and began to drive away, killing Covert.
The Seward County Sheriff's Office and Nebraska State Patrol investigated the accident.
