2 Abandoned Under Safe Haven Law

Another teenager has been dropped off at Bryan LGH West under the state's Safe Haven Law.  Police say, around 9:30 last night, a 17-year-old boy was left by his parents.  Police reports indicate the parents told authorities they couldn't afford to pay for the special programs the boy was in.  The 17-year-old was taken into custody under the Department of Health and Human Services.  The County Attorney and H.H.S are working on the case.

A 15-year-old girl was also abandoned under the Safe Haven Law last night at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.  In a release issued by the Department of Health and Human Services, officials say there is every indication the girl is from Nebraska.  Yesterday's drop offs have brought the total number abandoned under the law to 23.
