5 suffer from heat at Special Olympics torch run

A celebration on the steps of the State Capitol took a dangerous turn as special Olympics fans are overcome by heat.

It happened as the final leg of the Law Enforcement torch run wrapped up at the Capitol at about 5 o'clock Friday night.

We're told about 5 people were treated for heat exhaustion…2 of them were taken to the hospital for it.

Several other people were feeling the heat and sought relief inside the capitol building.

LFR wants to remind everyone to keep hydrated as temperatures soar over the next week during the Special Olympic Games.
