5th GPAC Player of Week Award for Bardsley

SIOUX CITY, IowaNebraska Wesleyan University senior guard Trey Bardsley added to his total of Player-of-the-Week awards today as he was named the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for the 5th time.

This past week’s performance was his most impressive to date during the incredible senior season for the Beatrice, Neb., native. Bardsley averaged 49.5 points and made 16-of-29 from 3-point range in the Prairie Wolves two wins to open the GPAC Postseason Tournament.

Bardsley set the NWU single game record with 11 made 3-pointers in the semifinal win over 18th-ranked Dakota Wesleyan. He finished with a career-high 55 points in the second round victory. His 55-point performance is the highest scoring game in NAIA Division II this season. He also set a new NWU single season record for points as he has 799 this season.

He opened the week with 44 points against Dordt College leading helping the Prairie Wolves to their first postseason victory. On the week he also averaged 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 3.0 steals and was a perfect 25-for-25 at the free throw line playing all 40 minutes in both games.

Bardsley has led NWU to nine straight victories and a trip to the GPAC Tournament Championship game to face Briar Cliff University tonight (Tuesday, Mar. 1) at 7 pm in Sioux City, Iowa.
