A Bill Before Nebraska Legislature Could Change Taxes On Automobiles

For once it may actually pay off to be driving a Chevette instead of a Corvette.. A bill before the Nebraska legislature would make taxes go up for drivers with expensive cars, and down for those driving cheap ones. Under current law, all vehicles with a retail price of more than 78-thousand dollars have to pay one-thousand-460-dollars in taxes the first year. The bill would slowly increase taxes on the high-end cars up until 100-thousand dollars, where the tax would max out at 19-hundred dollars. The bill would also lower taxes for cars that cost less than ten-thousand dollars.
