A Five Million Dollar Grant Has Been Awarded To UNL
Middle school teachers plan on changing the face of math in Nebraska. A five million dollar grant has been awarded to make sure your child's education is adding up. The grant will allow more than one-hundred math teachers statewide to step back into the classroom, not as teachers but as students. The idea is the more the teachers know, the more the students have to learn. The program is aimed at middle school kids. Studies show that's where the problem begins. The middle school teachers will be able to take classes at UNL. Some can even get their masters. Then a study will be done to see how well that trickles down to the students. The grant was just announced on Friday, so there are still many details to iron out, including the application process. We do know the classes will not only be free for the teachers, but they will also get paid.
