A Freak Accident Has Closed Down Interstate 80 For The Holiday Weekend

Late Friday night a semi truck driven by a 47-year-ikd Douglas Lohmeyer of Gage County veered off the interstate in Western Nebraska. The big rig ran directly into the support columns of a massive bridge, which spanned the interstate the concrete bridge collapsed onto the roadway.. Now it will be several more days before the scene can be cleaned up. Lohmeyer died en route to a Colorado hospital. Authorities say he may have been passing another truck, which caused him to drive off the road hitting the overpass. Governor Johanns says although it's a holiday weekend, crews will be working 24 hours to clear the wreckage. Interstate 80 is expected to reopen Monday.
