The University of Nebraska-Lincoln announced former Research and Economic Development Vice Chancellor Prem Paul, Ph.D, died Friday.
He was 68 years old. Paul began his tenure at UNL in July 2001 and retired at the end of this past August.
The university said Paul helped grow the University’s research.
UNL reports under his tenure research funding surpassed $100 million in 2006, which was the first time UNL’s external funding reached that level.
Paul is survived by his wife, Missi; daughter and son-in-law Neena and Steve; son Ryan; and granddaughter Ashland.

Funeral arrangements and visitation haven’t been determined yet.
