Thousands of kids woke up early Saturday morning and laced up their shoes for the annual Mayor's Run. Around three thousand kids ran a one mile lap around the Capitol Building. Friends and family members lined the sidewalks cheering the runners on. Don't let them fool you, these junior runners all had game plans in place…to be the first one to cross the finish line. Kayla Bailey was one of those runners. “Just jog just go at your own speed for a little while, and when you think your clost to it, go really fast.” Prizes were handed out to the best of each heat. The Mayor's Run serves as a prelude to Sunday's Lincoln Marathon. That race gets underway at seven Sunday morning. A record-number – nearly 33-hundred runners, are expected for the marathon.
