Another Lincoln Church Burglarized

Burglars have hit another Lincoln church.

They caused about $5,000 in damage to the Trinity Lutheran Church near 12th and G Streets.

Each year, there are up to 50 church break-ins in the capital city.

In the last year or so, church burglaries have become a re-occuring crime.

Police say the main reason is the buildings aren't as secure as they should be.

Thursday morning, staff came to the church to find several doors and windows had been smashed.

Someone had entered and got away with a few televisions, digital cameras, a DVD player, palm pilot and set of keys.

But, despite the loss of $600 in material things.

Lincoln police say with churches having more multi-media equipment, they become bigger targets, and should have security systems in place and better lighting.

Trinity Lutheran had all of their doors re-keyed and say they lock up everynight.

Church members say insurance will cover most of the costs.
