Apartment Fire Sends 3 To Hospital

Fire stormed through a family's apartment Friday afternoon in Northeast Lincoln. A family of three, a mother, father, and young child all escaped the flames, but they were taken to the hospital after breathing in the smoke.  Flames stretched about 20 feet into the air. One witness said the fire stretched from the bottom floor of the apartment building all the way to the top. Preliminary damage estimates are around 15 thousand dollars. Fire officials say the American Red Cross is helping set up the family with temporary housing. Investigators say the fire broke out in the kitchen, but the exact cause is still not known.
