Arrest made in death of 22-month-old Carter Vetter

The following is a news release from the Lincoln Police Department following the arrest in the Murder case of 22-month-old Carter Vetter.

On March 2, 2010, at 9:45p.m., emergency units were dispatched to a home in 3600 block of Lewis Avenue on a child that was not breathing. Attempts to revive the boy at the scene were not successful. He was transported to a Lincoln hospital and pronounced deceased at 10:28pm.

An autopsy the following morning revealed that 22 month old Carter Vetter did not die from natural causes. Over the next two months, Lincoln Police Department investigators consulted medical experts. Carter Vetter died as a result of blunt force trauma.

Micheal Wills, who lived in the home with Carter and his mother, was the sole care provider for Carter immediately preceding his death. The timeline of events and medical analysis indicates that Micheal Wills is responsible for the homicide.

An arrest warrant was issued and Micheal Wills was taken into custody without incident at 10:00 a.m. on May 28, 2010. He has been lodged in the Lancaster County Jail for Child Abuse Resulting in Death, a Class 1B Felony. Micheal Curtis Wills (23) 2333 Nancy Drive Lincoln, Nebraska.   

Wills mug shot was taken earlier this year when he was involved in a wreckless driving case.
