Arsonist set two Lincoln cars on fire

Lincoln Police believe two arsons in southeast Lincoln early this morning are connected.  Officer Katie Flood says within minutes two cars were set on fire.

Neighbors heard the explosions and called police. One car exploded near 44th and E streets just after 4 a.m.  Flood says just five minutes earlier,  Jonathon Johnson's pickup exploded near 47th and M streets.

He discovered what had happened just as he was getting home from work. “it makes me mad why would people do this? it's a dumb thing. There's no reason for it it's a selfish act. There goes my ride to work, ” Johnson said.

Johnson was in the process of buying the 1994 ford pickup from a friend. Damage to Johnson's truck is estimated at three-thousand dollars. Police are investigating the cause of the fires.
