Assistance For Weather-Related Job Losses
Some Nebraskans who lost their jobs because of recent severe weather may be eligible for Disaster Unemployment Assistance.
State Labor Commissioner Fernando Lecuona (loo-COIN-uh) III says the federal program has been extended to people in the counties of Buffalo, Butler, Colfax, Douglas, Gage, Hamilton, Jefferson, Kearney, Platt, Richardson, Sarpy and Saunders.
The storms and flooding occurred over the period of May 22 through June 24. Lecuona says in a news release that eligible people may include self-employed workers, farm workers and other self-employed individuals not eligible under other unemployment insurance programs.
The deadline for filing is Aug. 4.
