Bank hostage suspect enters pleas

A 23-year-old Minden man who is accused of taking hostages during a bank robbery in Kearney has  pleaded no contest to charges.

Jonathon Buckley pled no contest to four counts of kidnapping and a weapons charge connected with the February armed standoff at a Wells Fargo bank in Kearney.  Buffalo County Attorney Shawn Eatherton says Jonathon Buckley faces up to 250 years when he's sentenced in August.

Buckley made his pleas on Tuesday in Buffalo County District Court. Buckley had been charged with five counts of kidnapping, one count of robbery and one count of using a firearm to commit a felony. The charges were reduced in the plea deal.

No shots were fired during the three-hour standoff on February 10th.  Authorities say Buckley was armed with a shotgun when he entered the bank, threatening to kill someone and himself. No one was hurt during the incident.
