Bars Owners Organize Campaign Against Lincoln’s Smoking Ban
Smokers and some local bar owners continue to fight the smoking ban that passed this week. Hundreds of letters addressed to Council President Terry Werner and Councilman Ken Svoboda were delivered today.
Mary Rauner, the manager of BC's Pub is leading the effort to fight the smoking ban. She organized the nearly five hundred letters that have been signed and collected from people urging the Council to reconsider their total ban. Twenty-five hundred of those letters are still in the hands of voters. But the effort's don't end there. At the Zoo Bar, they are collecting signatures for a petition to repeal the ban.
Councilmen Terry Werner and Ken Svoboda told Channel Eight Eyewitness News they're aware of the letters, and will read them. But they say their votes are solid.
