“Ben Does Life” does Lincoln Marathon

Nearly 8,000 people crossed the finish line in this weekend's Lincoln Marathon and Half-Marathon. Among them, the event's keynote speaker. Ben Davis is only 25 but already has a pretty impressive racing resume, including 8 Marathons, a couple of Triathlons, and two Ironman races, and he doesn't plan to stop there!
This is Ben. “Finish lines are always exciting but the Lincoln Marathon really does it up right,” Davis said.
This is Ben- doing life. But it hasn't always been that way. His journey began nearly 4 years and 120 pounds ago, in Arkansas.
“That's kind of my motto about this whole thing. Yeah, it's not easy but it's worth it,” Davis said. It took shape with the help of his dad and brother.
“We worked up to a 5k and then a 10k and never really looked back,” Davis said. On his journey to a healthy life, he started a blog called 'Ben Does Life.'
“The life I'm living now, as for talking to other people and working to motivate others to take control of their lives, is really an unnatural thing for me because I spent so many years being depressed and reclusive, that it's kind of a 180 for me,” Davis said.
This weekend, Ben not only completed his 8th Marathon he was the event's motivational speaker. The 25-year-old is also a two time Ironman finisher.
“Some people get the idea I speak about weight loss and how to start running, and I do a little bit but the bigger theme to my talks is going after the things that scare you,” Davis said.
Now Ben travels the country, encouraging others to 'Do Life'-whatever that might mean for them.
“The simplicity of the idea the message of Doing Life and applying that to your own life whatever that might be it's really taken hold,” Davis said.
Ben is beginning a 25 city tour this summer and he's also written a book about his journey that will come out in January. To hear more about Ben's “Do Life” message or to follow his blog just go to www.bendoeslife.com or www.bendoeslife.tumblr.com
