Alexa is from Detroit, Michigan. Every year, she and her family would escape the hustle and bustle of city life and take a trip up north to the Upper Peninsula to enjoy a secluded and beautiful area along Lake Superior. She particularly enjoyed boat rides and all the outdoor activities.
A part in her 5th grade school play as a news reporter prompted her to pursue a career in journalism. She graduated from Central Michigan University and gained a lot of broadcasting and reporting experience. While in school she was a reporter and anchor at the college news station, she interned at WHMI radio, and television stations WDIV in Detroit and WOOD in Grand Rapids. Before coming to Channel 8 Eyewitness News, she was an Assignment Editor and Digital Producer for WOOD TV8. Alexa says about her job, “It is so important for people to know about important issues happening around them, not only in their community but across the country. It is my duty as a Journalist to provide you that information quickly and accurately on all platforms.”
In her spare time, she likes to explore new places and spend time at the beach. “I love to eat…I like to consider myself a “foodie”, says Alexa. She loves hanging with my friends and is a huge animal lover. “I would adopt every dog and cat in the world if I could,” she adds. She even brought her cat “Gus” with her to Nebraska.
