Bomb Scare Shuts Down I-80

A bomb scare shut down parts of interstate 80 Tuesday morning.

A four mile stretch was closed for about two hours while the State Patrol's bomb squad investigated.

Authorities say the Colorado man claimed to have a bomb in his car.

The patrol's bomb robot checked it out.

But nothing was found.

Investigators say the driver was voluntarily committed for mental problems.

The State Patrol says 39 year-old Ivan Juric of Edgewater, Colorado, was on his way to visit family in Iowa.

He was spotted by a trooper around 7:15 a.m. walking down the interstate near the 70th street overpass.

He said his car ran out gas.

Officers say he then began acting irrationally and said he had a bomb in his car.

Traffic was re-routed along highway 6.

Because he was voluntarily committed for mental problems, he will not be cited and won't face any charges.
