Buffett-Gates Tour Canadian Oil Sands

Two of the world's richest men have made a surprise visit to Alberta's oil sands. The Toronto Globe and Mail reported that Warren Buffett, chairman of Omaha, Nebraska-based Berkshire Hathaway, and Microsoft founder Bill Gates took in the sights of Fort McMurray on Monday to get a better idea of the region's development.

Canadian Natural Resources, Canada's second-largest oil and gas firm, hosted part of the tour at its 9.3 billion-dollar Horizon oil sands project, which is under development. Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers executive Greg Stringham says the two men asked the industry body to give a general overview of the oil sands. They also asked about Canada's position in the energy world.
