Candidates announced for Nebraska Department of Roads

Press Release: Lincoln Today, Governor Pete Ricketts announced the candidates for Director of the Nebraska Department of Roads. Previously, Ricketts had announced a national search for a forward-thinking leader for the department.

Potential candidates were identified with the help of Ford Webb Associates, a national firm with expertise in public and governmental sectors. Webb previously assisted with the successful searches that identified Scott Frakes to lead the Nebraska Department of Corrections and Courtney Phillips to serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

An alphabetical list by last name of finalists with brief biographical information follows:

Jim Kowach of Silver Lake, Kansas serves as the Director of Engineering and Design for the Kansas Department of Transportation.

Kyle Schneweis of Lawrence, Kansas is a partner in High Street Consulting Group, LLC, an industry-leading transportation planning, policy, and financial consulting firm. The firm’s clients include 8 state transportation departments and the Federal Highway Administration.

Richard Tetreault of Newport Center, Vermont is the Director of Program Development/Highways & Chief Engineer at the Vermont Agency of Transportation.

Governor Ricketts also interviewed Michael Flynn of Columbus, Ohio for the position of Director of the Nebraska Department of Roads. Mr. Flynn, however, has subsequently withdrawn his name from consideration for the role for personal reasons.
