The state capitol is shining a light on colon cancer, literally. Friday evening the building was lit up blue.
Over 100 people gathered on the steps of the capitol as a colon cancer survivor shared her story
Pam Drda was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer 10–years–ago. Drda said she’s lucky and wants to warn others, “I think we need to talk about it more, learn more about it and encourage people to get screened, because if you catch it early, you don’t have to go through everything that I’ve had to go through, going through chemo and radiation is not easy.”
Colon cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer, Kelly Krier, MD, colorectal surgeon, said, “We can cure this, if we prevent it.”
