Cause of flames remain in question after an abandoned house fire

Fire investigators are still trying to figure out the reason for a fire in central Lincoln.
Flashing lights brightened the area near 23rd and P Streets just after 11 p.m. Monday.
Fire officials said crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming out of the roof of the home. Fire Chief Brad Thavenet said at the scene he say the smoke almost five blocks away while driving to the fire.
Fire crews found the fire in a bedroom upstairs. They quickly contained it, keeping it from spreading to other parts of the house.
Thavenet said no one was injured.
The fact that the house was abandoned makes the fire’s cause difficult to determine, Thavenet said at the scene.
Fire investigators continue to sift through the facts as the investigation is ongoing.
