Chancellor Perlman Calls For A Vote

Some University of Nebraska employees are upset about an e-mail they say was sent to them by Chancellor Harvey Perlman. In it,  he asks all faculty members to participate in a secret ballot that would gage his support. The academic senate will take a vote of no-confidence in Perlman's leadership but that isn't scheduled to happen until September. Chancellor Perlman wants the date moved up. He says he'll resend all of his budget reductions– and resign as chancellor if a majority of votes are against him. Professors we talked with say proposing the vote is a direct violation of the universities by-laws, making it legally worthless.
