Christmas Morning House Fire

It was a tragic start to Christmas for one Lincoln family Thursday morning… Lincoln Firefighters arrived on the scene at a home in the Knolls shortly after 3:00 a.m. It's believed the elderly couple who lived in the home, just South of Old Cheney, did not make it out before the fire. Rescue crews say the couple had entertained family and friends Wednesday night with a holiday party, and the were believed to be inside at the time of the blaze. Lincoln Fire Chief Mike Spadt said containing the fire was, “very difficult. It's masonry and heavy timber construction… it's difficult because of high heat. We had to back off and go defensive. Due to a large column of fire we couldn't gain access like we normally do.” Firefighters have not yet determined the cause of the fire. The owners of the home have not yet be found.
