City Council Approves LES Rate Hike

Monday evening, the Lincoln City Council approved a rate increase proposed by the Lincoln Electric System. Effective immediately, Lincoln's LES customers will see a 3% increase on their bills. The publicly owned electric system says it needed this increase to keep costs lower in the future. Currently, LES's rates are ranked among the cheapest in the country.

It is expected that next year, LES will ask for another hike of 3%. Monday's increase is retroactive to October first.
