City Declares Area Blighted
The area near 48th and O Street has remained vacant for some time, and after an $18,000 study, the City is ready to step in. In a 4 to 3 vote, The Lincoln City Council labeled the area blighted in an effort to push change. Plans for a half million dollar Starbucks were already in the works to replace a vacant gas station. Now, for that plan to go into motion, developers say the City will have to step up to the plate and deliver some reassurance.
Now that the area is officially blighted, the next step is a redevelopment plan. That plan is expected to be in front of the City Council in six months.
