City Officials Want To Form Task Force To Prevent Future Lay Offs

The city council is trying to find ways to keep more jobs in Lincoln. On Wednesday, Quebecor told 550 workers were losing their jobs.

Both Lincoln's mayor and city council say they had no idea Quebecor was about to drop hundred's of employees.  But they're not going to watch the huge lay-off happen without a fight.

They want to form an economic development task force to help prevent future lay offs from happening again. The group would also find ways to communicate with companies that are still here in Lincoln making sure they don't have plans to leave.

He says this task force might help prevent these kind of lay-offs from happening again.    .   They're asking people to contact them if they have concerns about future lay-offs at their own places of employment. For more information: www.lincoln.ne.gov or www.lcoc.com
