Ravenna students are kicking off a long weekend with no classes Friday, but having fun may not be their highest priority.

Ravenna Public Schools officials say the district is experiencing a brush of flu-like symptoms among students and staff.

In an update on the RPS Facebook page, they stress for students to stay isolated from others to avoid passing anything.

Classes will resume Tuesday

Here is the full update by RPS:

No school on Friday (Jan 16) or Monday (Jan 19)

Ravenna Public Schools has experienced an unprecedented number of illnesses among students and staff. In order to help curb the spread we will NOT have school on Friday, January 16 or Monday January 19. It is vital that students, as much as possible, stay isolated from others to help avoid passing the “bug” around. All regularly scheduled HS events (i.e. BB games and wrestling matches) will still go on, however, if you are experiencing any flu–like symptoms we ask that you refrain from attending.
