Coleridge Tornado Rates at Least an F-3

The tornado that hit in the Coleridge area Monday night likely will rate at least an F-3 and may be an F-4 in its strength. That's the word from a National Weather Service meteorologist in Valley.

He says preliminary information shows it was a strong tornado based on wind speeds and path of destruction. Winds were over 200 miles per hour and the damage path was three-quarters to a mile wide for nearly ten miles. He says in one case, cattle were carried over a mile, then left dead in a pile. Officials say that's something that does not happen with every tornado.
