Consolidated Freightways Filing Chapter 11

Nebraskans who work for Consolidated Freightways, employees were told not to report for work. Consolidated Freightways Corporation, a 73-year-old trucking company based in Vancouver, Washington, said it is filing for chapter eleven bankruptcy protection. It is laying off 15,500 people nationwide. Local union leaders said about 100 jobs in Omaha would be affected. More than 80 percent of employees nationwide will receive termination notices immediately.
