Several bank employees spent the day without shoes. Cornhusker Bank near 11th and Cornhusker participated in “A Day Without Shoes” to benefit the People’s City Mission.

For the past three years, employees collected more than 19 thousand pairs of shoes and more than $25 thousand.

The bank and the mission hope to raise awareness of the need for adequate footwear in the community.

“I often call shoes sort of the invisible essential. You know, if you just give away the stuff we have you could clothe and shoe everybody in this town easily,” Pastor Tom Barber said.

Pastor Tom said he estimates collecting about nine to 10 thousand shoes today. You can drop off shoes at any Cornhusker Bank through Saturday.
