Crash Near Airport Injures Three
A three-vehicle crash near the Lincoln Municipal Airport Sunday morning resulted in two drivers being taken to a hospital.
Rhonda McClellan, the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu that was broadsided by a Chevrolet Blazer at the NW 12th and W. Adams streets intersection, remained in critical condition Sunday evening at BryanLGH Medical Center West.
The driver of the Blazer, Daphne Longs, 46, was taken to the same hospital. There was no information available about her condition, though she was able to speak with police following the crash.
Longs was driving north on NW 12th at about 6:53 a.m. Sunday when she collided with the car being driven by McClellan, 43, as McClellan attempted to turn north onto the same street from Adams. McClellan’s car careened into a Nissan Sentra in the southbound lane on NW 12th. The driver of the Sentra, Thaddieus Williams, 24, declined medical treatment.
Witnesses told police that the Blazer ran a red light and hit McClellan’s car, which had the green. Longs told police that the light was yellow when she entered the intersection going no more than 35 miles an hour.
