Crew at the Zoo

The City of Lincoln's Public Works celebrates Public Works Week with “Crew at the Zoo.”

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 6-10 at the entrance of the Lincoln Children's Zoo, you can see some of the department's big equipment, displays, fun activities and information about what they do.

Messy Monday (June 6) Featured a street sweeper and snow plow

Transit Tuesday (June 7) Showcases StarTran and the new bike racks on the buses

Wet Wednesday (June 8) Highlights water, wastewater, and watershed management

Traffic Thursday (June 9) Includes traffic sign and signal displays

Recycling Friday (June 10) Focuses on the importance of diverting recyclables from the landfill

Also on Wednesday, the zoo will feature World Oceans Day.  The event creates awareness about the importance of oceans and the need to conserve them.  The theme of this year's World Oceans Day is Dr. Seuss's classic book “One Fish Two Fish, Red Fish Blue Fish.”  Activities for this event on Wednesday is from 11 a.m. -3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. (Wild Wednesday).
