Crime Statistics For Lincoln Released

There are more people behind bars, and less crime on the streets, according to city statistics.

Lincoln Police Chief Tom Casady shared some impressive numbers on decreasing crime rates in the past year.   

He credits increased vigilance on the part of the public for some of the good news.

The city's crime rate is at the lowest in 25 years.   

For the fifth consecutive year, Lincoln has become safer, with overall crime dropping four percent from 2005 to 2006.  

The Lincoln Police Department has seen changes in crime trends.

Financial loss from crime is down almost 1 million dollars.

Chief Casady also says cell phones have made a world of difference in the decrease of crimes, because now people can call 911 from wherever they are.
