A pair of wins to open the season has moved Doane College up five spots in the NAIA Football Coaches' Poll on Monday afternoon. The Tigers claimed victories over Briar Cliff (41-28) and Dakota State (35-14) in the first two weeks of action.

Doane is the second highest ranked team from the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), following No. 4 Morningside. Northwestern College is tied for 17th and Dakota Wesleyan is a new member to the poll at No. 22. Hastings and Midland are receiving votes.

The Tigers will play their first road game of the season on Saturday when they travel to Orange City, Iowa, to take on the 17th-ranked Red Raiders. Northwestern is coming off a 34-7 loss to Morningside. In last year's meeting in Crete, Doane was victorious 20-8 over Northwestern.

Doane is looking for their first road win over a Top 25 opponent since defeating No. 19 Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln in 2002. Early that year, Doane won in Orange City over No. 16 Northwestern.
