NAIA defending champion Columbia College (Mo.) was able to put together a couple runs of points which proved to be too much to overcome as they sweep the Tiger volleyball team on Friday morning. The 17th-ranked Cougars won over the 15th-ranked Tigers, 25-20, 25-22, and 25-23.

The first set went back and forth with Doane taking a 17-15 lead into a Columbia timeout. The Cougars responded by taking 10 of the final 13 points in the set behind a 6-1 run.

Doane had a 10-6 lead in set 2 before the Cougars responded with a 6-0 run. Doane trailed much of the third set but kept it close, pulling within one point at 22-21 following an ace serve by Tayler Doremus (SO/Crete, Neb.). However, a sideout followed on a service error and the teams would sideout the rest of the way to close the set.

Shelbi Mlynczak (SR/Omaha, Neb.) closed out her career with her top match of the tournament and led the Tigers with 13 kills and a .300 attack percentage. Kaitlin Bradley (SR/Crete, Neb.) added 10 kills for the Tigers and Maci Coffey (JR/Blue Hill, Neb.) finished with eight kills.

Alex Neff (FR/North Platte, Neb.) dished out 34 assists for the Tigers as they hit .198 as a team. Doane had 16 kills in the first set and 14 kills in sets 2 and 3. Four different players recorded an ace serve: Rachel Wieser (SR/Norfolk, Neb.), Bradley, Neff and Doremus.

Doane finished with three team blocks in the match as the Cougars hit .300 with 44 kills. Alexis Dale (FR/Ravenna, Neb.) led the way with two assist blocks. Erin Warren (SO/Papillion, Neb.) led the back row with 16 digs and Bradley added 10.

Columbia received a team-high 10 kills from Caroline Clifford and nine kills from Maria Franco. The Cougars had eight blocks in the match, led by Zori Curry with five.

Doane ends the season at 25-10.
