Doctor Facing Charges
At least 99 people contracted Hepatitis C after being treated at Dr. Javed's Fremont clinic between March of 2000 and December of 2001. One patient died. Today, Health and Human services filed twelve charges against the doctor. Charges include lack of performing proper infection control and abandoning his patients.. Javed closed his practice and left the country for his native Pakistan in July of last year. The State is charging that employees after using a single use disposable needle to draw blood then reused that same needle. Authorities can't force him to return to the U.S. but they can have a trial without him. Fifty lawsuits have been filed against the doctor.
