Doug McDermott and Chicago Bulls to play Dallas Mavericks in Lincoln

We’ve seen big concert crowds at Pinnacle Bank Arena. And of course, it’s home to Nebraska Basketball.

But now, PBA is getting some NBA action. The Chicago Bulls will take on the Dallas Mavericks in a pre–season game later this year.

“That’s awesome,” an Ashland native said. “I’m kind of a Bulls fan, so I think I’d go.”

The arena’s plan to host the Bulls has been in the works since it first opened. Pinnacle Bank Arena was up against CenturyLink in Omaha for the pre–season game. The young PBA, though, came in strong for the win.

“A lot of different factors, schedule, where the Bulls see the best exposure, opportunity,” General Manager Tom Lorenz said. “All those different factors.”

And a familiar face, Doug McDermott, Creighton Blue Jay turned Bull, will make his way back to the Cornhusker State.

“It’s a great Nebraska tie to have the Bulls coming here with Doug as one of their players,” Lorenz said.

If you’re thinking about heading out to the game, you’ve still got a ways to go. The Bulls and the Mavericks will take over PBA on October 23 at 7 p.m. But get your tickets fast. Lorenz said there’s a good chance the event will sell out.

“We think it’s going to sell very strong,” Lorenz said. “It’s a great opportunity to see a professional game.”

Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. They range from $18 to $203 before fees. You can purchase them at the Firestone Farm Tires Ticket Office, online at, all Ticketmaster locations or by phone at 1(800)745-3000.
