Escaped Nebraska prisoner nabbed in Mississippi

Authorities say an inmate who squeezed between loose cell bars to escape the Falls City jail has been captured in Mississippi. The Richardson County Sheriff's Department says the U.S. Marshals Service nabbed Michael Thompson on Sunday near Biloxi (bih-LUKS'-see). Thompson escaped on Feb. 20.

He squeezed between bars that were loose because of a broken steel plate. Thompson surprised a jailer who had gone to Thompson's cell to tell him to lower the sound from a television.

Thompson handcuffed the jailer to a cell bar, but she was not injured. Authorities say Thompson already faced an escape charge because he fled a Falls City doctor's office when he taken there for treatment in January.

He originally was arrested by Falls City police on an Arkansas warrant.
